Art Walk – A must do in the River District social scene is the monthly Art Walk. Always on the first Friday of the month, visit the many exciting galleries, exhibitions, and performances. Free to the public with many venues featuring additional attractions and specials. Rain or shine, 6-10 pm. Free event, open to all ages.

Mystery WalkJoin the Mystery every second Friday of the month in the River District from 6-8 pm. Registration begins at First and Hendry Streets in front of Iberia Bank. Free to play, participants receive the first clue of the mystery location and scorecard!

Music Walk – The River District comes alive on the third Friday of the month as local and regional musicians line the streets. From jazz and blues to rock & roll, many genres can be heard and vary each month. Free to the public with many venues featuring additional attractions and specials. 6-10 pm.

Pet Walk – Now held at the Butterfly Estates, the Pet Walk remains every fourth Friday of the month beginning at 6 pm.  Lot’s of great pet themed activities and a great place to explore! Located at 1815 Fowler Street, the Butterfly Estates is a gem in the River District you’ll be sure to enjoy if you’ve never been.

Caribbean Cruise-In Car Show at Salty Sam’s Marina & Parrot Key Caribbean Grill – Free and open to the public, visitors will have the opportunity to see up close some of the area’s coolest hot rods, finest classic cars, custom cars and more. The Caribbean Cruise-In Car Shows are an annual series of shows on the first and third Monday of each month, November through April. Live music, food and drink specials will be offered along with a number of prizes for participating cars. There is no fee to enter your car, so give that chrome an extra shine, get behind the wheel and head out to Parrot Key. Parrot Key Caribbean Grill, 2500 Main St. Fort Myers Beach, FL 33931

River District Farmers’ Market – Open every Thursday year round from: 9:00 AM- 1:00 PM. in the Centennial Park parking lot, under the U.S. 41 Caloosahatchee Bridge. This lively green market offers a variety of local produce, seafood, baked goods, honey, nuts, cheese, flowers, plants & more for the discerning shopper. A fixture of the downtown Fort Myers River District since 1994, the market is popular with both tourists in season and locals during the summer months. Be sure to stop by soon for a fun and rewarding experience!

Fort Myers Seafood & Music Festival

JANUARY 4-6, 2019

At Fort Myers Seafood & Music Festival, hungry festival-goers will flock to enjoy a delicious array of seafood ranging from Cajun-style crawfish to raw bars. Over the course of three days, January 4-6, 2019, thousands will flock to Fort Myers, Florida. The festival’s beer garden, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, live music, arts & crafts as well as a variety of attractions for folks of all ages.

FREE General Admission! HOURS: Friday evening 4pm – 10pm, Saturday 11am – 10pm and Sunday 11am – 6pm LOCATION: Fort Myers River District. VIP Tent admission is $75 that includes an open bar serving premium drinks in a private tent with a dedicated service staff. The tent’s location enjoys optimal viewing of the live music performances. VIP tickets are available thru EventLive.

Enjoy foods cooked fresh onsite (seafood, meat, vegetarian) with a variety of side dishes and of course – desserts! For drinks, choose from alcoholic, non-alcoholic and fruit drinks, While eating, listen to the captivating sounds of live musical performances on stage by some of Florida’s and the region’s top musical talents from such genres as R&B, jazz, rock, reggae and Caribbean sounds. This year’s performers include on Friday night: the Freecoasters (Reggae, American Southern Soul), Sarasota Steel Pan Band (Caribbean) and The Shindigs (Beach Boys Tribute Band). On Saturday enjoy: Kettle of Fish (Rock), CeCe Teneal & Soul Kamotion (Blues, Soul, Roots), J.P. Soars & The Red Hots (Blues), the Bob Marley Tribute Band featuring Yvad, former lead singer of the Wailers (Reggae), and the Caribbean Chillers (Jimmy Buffet Tribute Band). STEMtastic Day of Discovery is an award winning STEM event that provides an exciting atmosphere for children and families to experience Science, Technology, Engineering, Math and the Arts.

We are excited to again partner with The Foundation For Lee County Public Schools and the School District of Lee County to create an unbelievable showcase of STEM related exhibits for children and their families! STEMtastic Day of Discovery allows families the opportunity to participate in high profile indoor and outdoor, interactive area which features science, technology, engineering and math related exhibits, games and presentations by a number of regional and national organizations. The event also highlights the artistic talents of many local area children through musical, acrobatic and theatrical performances on the community stage. This event is FREE to attend.


Edison Festival of Light

The Edison Festival of Light is one of the largest, longest-running events in Southwest Florida and pays homage to Thomas Alva Edison and all that he contributed to the world and our community. The Festival is a tradition that brings everyone in our community together while also making a positive economic impact on local businesses. We are proud to provide a variety of free, unique, educational, and informational events during the month of February. 


Edison Festival of Light: Junior Parade

FEBRUARY 10, 2019; 2:30PM-4:30PM

Florida’s largest youth parade showcases the creativity and talents of hundreds of Southwest Florida children and their families. Over 100 units including floats, marching bands, dancers, street performers, clowns and dignitaries parade their way around the Downtown River District. The annual event has been taking place in Southwest Florida since the 1940’s and gets better every year! The Junior Parade is held during the day and is a smaller version of the Grand Parade. It’s old-fashioned family fun for participants and spectators.

Edison Festival of Light: Grand Parade

FEBRUARY 16, 2019; 6:00PM-10:00PM

Named as the largest night parade in the Southeast year after year, the Grand Parade is a two-hour extravaganza featuring national participants & local marching bands, floats, local government and law enforcement officials, clowns and much, much more.

The parade brings the entire Southwest Florida community out in celebration of the life and achievements of our local winter resident, Thomas Edison. Spectators come from near and far to enjoy this event and often begin marking their viewing spot weeks in advance!

Although the event is free for spectators there are two ticketing options open to attendees. The first ticketing option is run by local non-profit groups through the Festival that sell reserved seats (“Street Seats”) and the second ticketing option is VIP tickets which are sold online and in the Edison Festival of Light office (which include food and beverages).

Annual Burrowing Owl Festival

Cape Coral is home to the largest known population of the Florida BURROWING OWL which is a threatened species. These pint sized birds burrow underground where they nest from early February through mid-July and are now the official city bird of Cape Coral. Please join us at this family fun filled event which celebrates the start of the burrowing owl nesting season and all of Cape Coral’s natural wildlife treasures. Festival highlights include environmental and wildlife organizations with educational exhibits and live animals, bus tours to local burrowing owl burrows, demonstrations on burrowing owl burrow maintenance and starter burrows. There will be on site speakers with wildlife presentations and live birds of prey. Enjoy a tour through the live interactive butterfly house and learn about their host and nectar plants. Artists, photographers and craft vendors of all things natural, native and wild will have lovely items for sale. Children will enjoy the free arts and crafts activities at the Children’s Creative Corner. Also on site will be music and food vendors so plan to spend the day.

$5 donation requested over age 16. Event proceeds will go toward local wildlife protection, preservation and education.


Swamp Cabbage Festival

Come and join LaBelle Swamp Cabbage Festival as we celebrate the 53rd Anniversary on Feb. 23th and 24th. Participate in all of our events, such as the Dance, Rodeo, 5K Run and Fishing Tournament. We will also have Live Entertainment all weekend!!

Annual Southwest Florida & Lee County Fair

The primary purpose of the Fair is to provide a place to display livestock, agriculture, crafts and the like in a safe, family-oriented environment.  The Southwest Florida & Lee County Fair is a special annual event of limited duration, with a specific objective of providing thousands of attendees an educational and entertainment experience, serving a main audience of family and youth, in a safe, family-oriented environment.  We are proud of this 11-day community event that continues to grow each year.  As a District Fair we celebrate the promotion of Florida Agriculture and education through the youth of Southwest Florida in 4-H/FFA.  We are proud to encompass the Counties of Lee, Charlotte, Collier, DeSoto, Glades, and Hendry.
