Fort Myers, Fla (September 2, 2020) – Offshore Sailing School founder and Colgate 26 sailboat concept designer Steve Colgate is pleased to announce that new Colgate 26 keelboats are being built by Waterline Systems. Steve said, “We are delighted to work with Randy Borges’ Waterline Systems of North Kingstown, Rhode Island, and Hubert, North Carolina, to manufacture Colgate 26 sailboats.” Steve continued, “Waterline Systems is the perfect builder for Colgate 26s as they currently build the Alerion yacht line, and will provide that same high quality in producing the Colgate 26, known as The Boat For All Reasons because it is so versatile and safe in all wind and sea conditions.” The Colgate 26 replaced Solings in Offshore Sailing School’s fleet in 1997, when it was named Cruising World magazine’s “Boat of the Year.” The Colgate 26 was originally manufactured by Precision BoatWorks in Palmetto, Fla. Waterline Systems will now service Colgate 26 sailboats at either of its facilities. Colgate 26 owners may contact [email protected], 401-247-3000.
The first three new Colgate 26 sailboats have been sold. In lieu of the canceled US Sailboat Show in Annapolis next month, now through October 31, 2020, new Colgate 26 sailboats are being offered with $10,000 savings, making the Colgate 26 just $44,950 for a limited time. Interested parties may contact Steve Colgate at 239-985-7505. For more information, visit www.Colgate26.com.
Today, there are close to 400 Colgate 26 boats sailing and racing throughout the United States and in sailing areas including Qatar, through a combination of private owners, other sailing schools, yacht club fleets, the US Naval Academy, and several other service institutions. Offshore Sailing School currently owns 17 Colgate 26 sailboats, used for sailing lessons, basic Learn to Sail certification courses, intermediate Performance Sailing courses and racing events, team building and leadership development sailing programs.
Owned by sailor and boat builder Randy Borges, Waterline Systems has focused on building and optimizing sailboats since the company’s inception in 1988.
Offshore Sailing School was founded in 1964 by Olympic and America’s Cup Sailor, and National Sailing Hall of Fame Inductee, Steve Colgate. The School provides a full range of sailing and boating instruction with US Sailing & Powerboat certification – from beginning sailing to racing, advanced cruising, and passage making – at six locations in Florida and the British Virgin Islands. Offshore Sailing School continues its decade-long commitment to the national Leukemia & Lymphoma Society by supporting more than 25 Leukemia Cup Regattas across the country and LLS Fantasy Sail weekends. The company also supports several other philanthropic causes and organizations located in the areas where its employees live, work and play.
