FORT MYERS, Fla. (October 23, 2018) – The Edison and Ford Winter Estates (EFWE) is selling wood slabs from the Mysore Fig tree that was lost during Hurricane Irma. This is the second round of wood slabs being offered; the first lot sold out quickly several months ago. The large tree that once stood along the fence in front of the Edison estate was nearly 80 years old.
There are 24 slabs available in assorted sizes and can be used for table tops, wall art or other types of furniture. Slabs range in price from $100 to $600. There are also small pieces of wood priced from $5 to $25 available for sale in the museum store. All proceeds from the wood sales will go toward restoring the historic EFWE gardens.
Rust Never Sleeps Architectural Salvage in Fort Myers is one of the companies working with EFWE customers to finish the wood and make the slabs into tables or other furniture pieces. The company also purchased wood slabs of different species from EFWE and will donate a percentage of the proceeds from sales back to the organization.
Anyone interested in purchasing a wood slab should contact Sherri Muske at 239-335-3670.
