FORT MYERS, Fla. (Oct. 18, 2019) – The fourth annual Charity Golf Outing, presented by Brown & Brown Insurance of Southwest Florida, raised a tournament record $50,200 to support scholarship programs for Child Care of Southwest Florida.

Held Sept. 27 at West Bay Golf Club, this year’s sold-out tournament field included 144 golfers who enjoyed a pre-golf breakfast and a round of championship golf followed by an awards luncheon and silent auction. Winners of the four-person scramble were: Noah Coffers, Russel Funk, Clif Myers and Chase Marinell.

“Not only was the turnout phenomenal this year, but 35 businesses and organizations stepped forward as sponsors,” said Jason Cloar, executive vice president and office leader for Brown & Brown Insurance of Southwest Florida. “This golf tournament is quickly becoming a premier fundraising event in the region, and we’re glad to continue supporting a nonprofit organization that truly is preparing the next generation for success.”

The Charity Golf Outing raises money to provide working families in Lee and Hendry counties with financial assistance so their children can receive a high-quality early childhood education at one of Child Care of Southwest Florida’s six nationally accredited learning centers.

“Every research study out there keeps pointing to a strong early childhood education as the single most important factor in a young person’s academic, social and behavioral development,” said Chris Hansen, CEO of Child Care of Southwest Florida. “We never want to turn away a child because their family lacks financial resources, so the continued success of this golf tournament means we can provide more scholarships that allow additional children to have access to a high-quality education.”

Joining Brown & Brown Insurance of Southwest Florida as sponsors for the golf tournament were: ABS Distributors; AmWINS Brokerage of Florida; B & I Contractors; BB&T Bank; Centauri Insurance; Coastal Custom Pool and Spa; Cornerstone Builders; CRS Technology Consultants; Denny Grimes & Team; Edison National Bank; Ferguson; Gulfcoast Coin & Jewelry; Leopardi’s Italian Restaurant; Lipman Family Farms; Maschmidt Wealth Management; MetLife; Myers, Brettholtz & Company, PA; Paychex; Priority Marketing; PSR Peachtree Special Risk Brokers; Raymond James; RT Ryan Turner Specialty; Sanibel Captiva Community Bank; Shoot Center; South Trail Tire & Auto Repair; T3 Communications; Taylor Carpet One; Target Roofing & Sheet Metal; UBS – The Maurillo Group; United Healthcare; United Mechanical; Waltbillig & Hood General Contractors; Weinstein Wilkes Financial Group;  and Yardmaster Lawn Service.
