Photos + Story: Fort Myers Dads Bond with Their Kids at “Daddy Did My Hair” Event

Level Up Dads’ “Daddy Did My Hair” Night Brings Smiles and Strengthens Bonds in Fort Myers

Fort Myers, FL – April 28, 2025 – Last week, the Children’s Advocacy Center of Southwest Florida’s Level Up Dads program hosted its heartwarming “Daddy Did My Hair” event at the Paul Mitchell School in Fort Myers, celebrating the special connection between fathers and their children.

The event, held on Tuesday, April 22, brought local dads and their kids together for an evening of learning, laughter, and lasting memories. Fathers received hands-on instruction from Paul Mitchell School students on basic hairstyling techniques—giving dads the tools (and confidence) to style their children’s hair while spending meaningful, quality time together.

“It’s not just about styling hair; it’s about building trust, connection, and shared memories,” said JJ Wheeler, Director of Prevention Services and founder of the Level Up Dads program. “Events like this show how powerful small moments can be in strengthening family bonds.”

The evening was filled with smiles, creativity, and a few proud (and sometimes funny) first attempts at braids, ponytails, and buns. Fathers and children alike enjoyed the relaxed, supportive environment, and many shared that it was a memory they would cherish forever.

Photos from the event are available upon request. Media outlets interested in highlighting this uplifting community event and the ongoing work of Level Up Dads are encouraged to reach out.
