Fort Myers, Florida — The law firm of Henderson, Franklin, Starnes & Holt, P.A. is pleased to announce that Florida Bar Board-Certified Civil Trial Attorney Michael Corso will present a special seminar titled “Rise of the Drones: Current UAV/UAS Law Landscape” at Purdue University on Thursday, April 3, 2025, in West Lafayette, Indiana.

Hosted by Purdue’s School of Aeronautics and Astronautics, the seminar will offer a historical overview and current analysis of the laws and regulations governing drone (UAV/UAS) technology. Topics will include federal and state law, federal preemption, privacy rights, Fourth Amendment protections, flight safety, liability, insurance, and anticipated legal developments.

Corso, a 1971 graduate of Purdue’s School of Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering, brings a unique perspective to the topic as both a former aerospace engineer and a seasoned trial lawyer. After serving as a Captain in the United States Air Force and completing his legal education, he joined Henderson Franklin in 1978. Today, he focuses his practice on complex tort litigation, including product liability and professional negligence defense.

Recognized nationally for his expertise, Corso has authored multiple articles on drone law and speaks regularly at conferences across the country. His contributions have been honored with accolades such as the 2022 Justice Harry Lee Anstead Award as the Florida Bar Board Certified Lawyer of the Year and the 2024 Florida Defense Lawyers Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
