When I started my company 28 years ago, I was in business for business. It was my means to earn a living.
It still is, but my days and nights no longer are wholly consumed by selling products and services or studying the numbers. I’ve found something better.
Since joining the Greater Fort Myers Chamber 10 years ago, it’s been one enjoyable event after another: the Golf Classic, Leadership NEXT, Business Symposium, Conversations & Cocktails, Women in Business, the Kids Fishing Tournament, Pins with Twins… The list goes on and on.
Every event is like a family reunion. We laugh together, dine together, play together and network together. The Chamber is a web of like-minded business professionals who have each other’s backs – personally and professionally.
We’re all committed to helping each other grow, because our individual success becomes this community’s success.
As I embark on my term as president, my predecessor, Dan Adams, didn’t leave me a huge to-do list. That’s because he spent the past year getting stuff done, accomplishing every task he started.
Dan’s success as president means I can continue focusing on helping members forge, establish and grow their personal connections with fellow members. We have a dynamic group of individuals from all walks of life – white and blue collar occupations, men and women, older and younger – that have found a second family at the Chamber. It’s essentially a team of mentors, potential partners and clients, neighbors and friends who are ready and willing at a moment’s notice to offer their insight, expertise and guidance.
Imagine having an investment banker, a homebuilder, a fitness guru, a marketing specialist, an accountant, an attorney, a restaurant owner, a mayor and more in your close circle of friends. We are each other’s best advisors. We are our confidants, opinion panel and real-life Google service.
And best, we’re all friends.
That’s what makes the Chamber fun.
