Children’s Advocacy Center of Southwest Florida Receives $50,000 Grant to Bring Therapy Closer to Charlotte County Families
Funding through the Charlotte Impact NOW! Initiative will help remove transportation barriers for children and families seeking healing services
Children’s Advocacy Center of Southwest Florida (CACSWFL) has received a $50,000 grant to support Healing Closer to Home, an initiative designed to make therapeutic services more accessible to children and families in Charlotte County.
The grant will support providing services closer to home, reducing the need for families to travel to the organization’s Fort Myers location. By bringing care closer to the communities it serves, the initiative will help remove transportation and distance barriers that can make it difficult for families to consistently access the support they need.
“When a child and family are navigating the aftermath of abuse or neglect, accessing therapy should not create an additional hardship,” said Alicia Shannon, CEO of Children’s Advocacy Center of Southwest Florida. “This generous grant allows us to meet Charlotte County families closer to home and provide the consistent, compassionate support that is so important to the healing process.”
The grant was awarded through the Charlotte Impact NOW! Initiative, a partnership for catalytic impact between the Elsa & Peter Soderberg Charitable Foundation and Gulf Coast Community Foundation.
“We are deeply grateful to Gulf Coast Community Foundation, the Elsa & Peter Soderberg Charitable Foundation and the Impact NOW! Initiative for recognizing this need,” Shannon added. “Their investment will help ensure that geography does not stand between a child and the care they deserve.”
