Alliance for the Arts To Host Popular Summer Arts Camp June 10-August 2

Registration Now Open for three Summer Arts Camps 2024 

FORT MYERS, FL (May 6, 2024) – Alliance for the Arts will be hosting its popular Summer Arts Camp this year beginning June 10. Registration is open to students ages 7-11 for full days and a half day “Mini Explorers” for those ages 4-6. Musical Theater Intensive Camp will take place at the Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre July 8-August 2, and is open to ages 7 and up.

Summer Arts Camp will be broken up into seven one-week sessions June 10-August 2. No camp session will be held over the Fourth of July holiday, July 1-5. 

Full Day Camp:

Each one week session is open to anyone ages 7-11 and will have a new theme: learn about famous artists, discover evidence of prehistoric dinosaurs or deep dive into the amazing creatures that live in the ocean all by exploring the arts with art projects.  There is an option to add a digital arts class to full day camp sessions. Create, play games and make memories this summer at the Alliance!

Week 1 & 4: World Art Explorers. Explore new places around the globe and discover artists from that region. Campers will learn about artists like French born artist Claude Monet and his seaside impressionistic paintings, or Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama and why she is called the “Princess of polka dots.” 

Week 2 & 5: Underwater Adventure Explorers. Dive deep into the ocean and learn about different marine life. Campers will create sea themed art projects. 

Week 3 & 6: Dinosaur Explorers. Go back in time and search for evidence of dinosaurs. Campers will learn about prehistoric plants and a variety of dinosaurs that roamed Earth millions of years ago. 

Week 7: Creative Explorers. This last week of art explorers camp focuses on famous artists. Campers will discover different art movements from Renaissance, Cubism, Impressionism to Pop art and lots in between. Spend time exploring famous paintings and trying old and new techniques. 

Regular camp hours are 9:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.. Before and after-care are available 8:00 a.m.-

9:00 a.m.and 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. for an extra $10 per child, per day. Pricing is $275 per weekly session for members and $325 per week for non-members. Digital Arts add on is $40 for members, and $50 for non-members. Sibling discounts are available, as well as scholarship options. 

Half Day Camp:

Mini explorers half day camp offers children ages 4-6 years old the chance to engage in themed days filled with art, games, music, and a dress up day. Half day camp is for ages 4-6 years old. The camp will be 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Campers must be picked up by 12:00p.m. After care is not available for half-day campers. 

Week 1 & 4: Disney explorers. This fun filled week will focus on Mickey and his friends. Campers will create magical art projects inspired by Disney theme parks. Listen to songs from the Disney movies. One day will be dress up day and you can dress up as your favorite Disney character. 

Week 2 & 5: Underwater adventure explorers. Dive deep into the ocean and learn about different marine life. Campers will create sea themed art projects. One day will be dress up day and you can dress up as any seafaring character such as a pirate, mermaid, or sea creature. 

Week 3 & 6: Dinosaur explorers. Go back in time and search for evidence of dinosaurs. Campers will learn about prehistoric plants and a variety of dinosaurs that roamed Earth millions of years ago. Create dinosaur art projects. One day will be a dress up day and you can dress up as a dinosaur.

Mini Explorers half day camp hours are 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Before-care is available 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.for an extra $10 per child, per day. After-care is not available, campers must be picked up by 12:00 p.m..  Pricing is $135 per weekly session for members and $175 per week for non members. 

Musical Theatre Intensive Camp

The Broadway Palm and Alliance for the Arts Musical Theatre Intensive Camp focuses on high quality training for students ages 7 and up. Campers will have the unique opportunity to work with professional actors from Broadway Palm’s current production of Mary Poppins. Each week will culminate in a performance on a Broadway Palm stage where every student gets a chance to shine.

Mary Poppins Advanced: July 8–12, Ages 11–15: Things will be practically perfect in every way as campers learn choreography and scene work featuring that famous Nanny – Mary Poppins.  Led by Broadway Palm performers coaching students in vocal technique, acting and musical theatre dance. Speciality courses in dance partnering, improv, and scene study will be offered as well as the opportunity to watch the main stage production of Mary Poppins complete with an actor talk back.

Mary Poppins Junior: July 15–19, Ages 7–10: Focusing on the basics of dance technique, music theory and acting – this camp is the perfect introduction to formal musical theatre training for those students bitten by the theatre bug. Student actors will portray characters from the classic story in cold reading workshops coached by Broadway Palm’s professional actors. Camp includes attending a performance of Mary Poppins complete with a talk back with cast members.

Christmas in July featuring ELF the musical: July 22-26,  Ages 7–10: Using material from Broadway Palm’s hit production, we will be sparkle jolly all over the stage! With special courses in tap dance, stage makeup, improv and more, students are sure to pick up new skills this week as they explore Buddy’s journey to New York City. Campers will work on creating iconic characters with Broadway Palm actors and present scenes and songs from the show as a final presentation.

Season Pass ‘50s and ‘60s: July 29-August 2, Ages 11–15: The most advanced week, this camp is designed for students who are looking to pursue a career in the performing arts.  Actors will be pushed to perform at the peak of their abilities with advanced part singing, partner dancing and a variety of scene work based on Broadway Palm’s 2023/2024 season. Featuring themes and music from the 1950s and 1960s and using material from Hairspray, Elvis and Beautiful. Students will dive into advanced scene study, the history of musical theatre and become familiar with each show by learning historical context and how to audition for varying genres.

Musical Theatre Intensive Camp hours are 9:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. There is no before or after care available. Pricing is $215 per weekly session for members and $260 per week for non-members. You must have a current Alliance Family Membership to register as a member.
