CANDIDATE VIDEO INTERVIEWS

The Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce is a member of the Southwest Florida Alliance of Chambers, a coalition of Collier and Lee chambers of commerce committed to serving as a catalyst for positive change impacting business, environment and tourism. Founded in the wake of the 2018 water crisis, the organization advocates at the local, state and federal levels to improve Southwest Florida’s quality of life. 

The Southwest Florida Alliance of Chambers met with candidates running in several Lee and Collier county elections to discuss their priorities as it relates to business, the economy and water quality. Videos of these conversations are below.

LEE COUNTY COMMISSION

The five-member Board of County Commissioners is the legislative and governing body of Lee County. Each County Commissioner is elected at large for a maximum of three, four-year terms of office. Each Commissioner represents and resides in one of the five Commission Districts. This year, there are candidates for Districts 1, 3, and 5. 

The Southwest Florida Alliance of Chambers interviewed seven candidates for the Lee County Commission.

CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT 19

The Southwest Florida Alliance of Chambers interviewed the 10 Republicans and two Democrats vying to replace Rep. Francis Rooney in the U.S. House. The district includes coastal Collier County and most of Lee County. Below are the videos for the candidates who won in the August primary election.

FLORIDA STATE SENATE

The Florida State Senate is the upper chamber of the Florida State Legislature. Alongside the Florida House of Representatives, it forms the legislative branch of the Florida state government and works alongside the governor of Florida to create laws and establish a state budget. Legislative authority and responsibilities of the Florida State Senate include passing bills on public policy matters, setting levels for state spending, raising and lowering taxes, and voting to uphold or override gubernatorial vetoes.
